As lovely as the falling leaves and cold, clear mornings are, they represent more than the change from summer to fall: They also represent the beginning of the flu season. Safeguard your family from the flu virus by giving your home a thorough cleaning to kill anything sinister that might be lurking. Check your local department store or wholesale supplier for wholesale cleaning cloths because you are going to need them!

Doorknobs and Light Switches

If you consider how many different hands touch the doorknobs in your house every day, it might gross you out slightly to think about how many of those hands are unwashed. Now look at the light switches and you can draw the same conclusions. Do yourself a favor and get them sanitized as soon as possible!

  • Using some of your cleaning cloths and a bleach solution in a spray bottle, give all your doorknobs and light switches a good wipedown. Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from the chemicals, and remember that moderation is fine; you don’t need to soak everything in solution.

Bed Linens and Pillows

When was the last time you washed your pillows? If you can’t remember the answer, then it’s time to wash them again. You do a lot of sweating, drooling and shedding skin flakes while you sleep, so your sheets and pillows are riddled with bacteria whether you want to believe it or not. During sick season it’s vital to get any traces of the flu scrubbed out of your bed linens by running them through your washer’s hottest cycle and adding bleach to the load. Make sure that pillows are dried thoroughly to prevent mold growth.

Getting sick is not anybody’s idea of a good time, so make sure that your home is as germ-free as you can make it by going the extra mile to sanitize. A clean home is a healthy home.
